Thank you for attending Kids Managing Conflict’s Symposium and Celebration of Peer Mediation Event! We want to express our gratitude for your presence and support throughout the event, and we hope it provided you with a valuable experience.
The Symposium was a remarkable opportunity for us to host an exceptional lineup of keynote speakers who shared their expertise with us. We were privileged to have Michael Powell from AAA, Bob Tessier from Judicate West, Dr. Brian Jarrett from CSUDH, Jason Harper from Harper Mediation, and Crystal Williams, a Mediator, and Professor.
They enlightened us on their connections to peer mediation, and the connections and distinctions between restorative justice and peer mediation, providing all of us valuable insights.
Furthermore, we were fortunate to have many of our grant-recipient schools and students in attendance. We had panel discussions featuring both educators and students.
These discussions allowed attendees to witness the significance of conflict resolution skills, understand the challenges and successes of peer mediation programs, and gain a deeper appreciation for the value they bring.
We were especially thrilled to hear from our student mediators, who shared their inspiring experiences and insights. It was incredible to have students from Grades 4 through 12 participating in the student mediator panel.
Judicate West Youth Peacemaker of the Year Award
One of the most memorable moments of the event was the presentation of the prestigious Judicate West Youth Peacemaker of the Year Award.
Robert Tessier had the honor of bestowing this award, which pays tribute to the exceptional efforts of our student mediators.
The award serves as a symbol of recognition on behalf of the late Judge Judy Chirlin, and these students have truly made outstanding contributions to promoting peace and resolving conflicts through peer mediation.
